About Donations
How
much will you actually donate to my cause?
We sometimes
feature special offers that result in higher
donations, but normally we donate up to 75% of
your purchase price, before any taxes or shipping
costs. We say "up to" because the actual
percentage that we donate varies by store and sometimes by
product. Before you join HEARTof.com, you will see
on your screen the minimum (or "at
least") amounts that we donate. The actual,
sometimes higher but never lower, amounts that we donate
from your purchases will display on your screen as
soon as you join and refresh one of our shopping
pages.
Do
you really offer the "web's biggest
donations"?
Yes, we do! We give back in
donations 75% to 100% of what we earn in referral
fees. Our current donations range from 0.5%
of purchase prices on some
computer products to 40% on some magazines and 75%
on Lavalife sign-ups, and our current average is

Will
your donations cost my cause anything?
Absolutely not! There
are no costs, hidden or otherwise, to
organizations that use our services or receive our
donations.
Where
do you get the money to donate?
Every
time you start at our mall, click on one of our
stores and make a purchase, all in the same visit,
that store pays us a referral fee, which is the
source of our donations. Although we have
safeguards in place to prevent any problem, we
ultimately depend on
our associated stores to report your
purchases. We cannot be held responsible if a store fails
to report a purchase accurately or to pay us
correctly.
When
will you donate?
We make donations three times a year (in February,
June and October) for all
referral fees we have received at least 30 days
prior to the date of disbursement. For the
first year after an organization has listed itself
at HEARTof.com, there is no minimum that it must
earn before we will send a check. After the
first year, or for organizations that have not
listed themselves, we may refrain from sending a
check until the organization has accumulated a
total of $20 in donations.
What
kinds of causes will you donate to?
We will donate only to legitimate
organizations that promote peace, justice, or
human, animal or environmental betterment, broadly
defined. Such organizations may include
charities, schools, religious groups, arts
organizations, environmental or
animal care groups, public radio stations, amateur sports teams,
neighborhood organizations, and many other types.
Such organizations may or may not have been granted
501(c)3 status by the Internal Revenue Service,
and 501(c)3 status is not a requirement for
receiving our donations. If you have questions about a particular organization,
please contact them directly or try to find them at www.guidestar.org, www.idealist.org,
or another online list.
Will
you ever refuse to donate to a cause?
We reserve the right
to refuse to donate to organizations that, in our
sole discretion, we suspect of behaving with or advocating
disrespect toward people (based, for example, on
gender, racial or ethnic identity, sexual
orientation, national origin, etc.), toward
animals, or toward the environment. Although, we never anticipate exercising
it, we also reserve the right to refuse to donate to
any organization that we, in our sole discretion, suspect of using
our services improperly.

What
must I do to ensure that my cause receives
proper credit for my purchases?
Simply join and never refuse to accept electronic
cookies from our site. We use cookies to help
automatically track your purchases and the
donations they generate. The only exceptions
are purchases from Amazon.com, for which you
must send us a copy of their email order
confirmation (see 'details' at any of our Amazon
links).
Does
it cost more to shop through your mall?
Absolutely not! There are no costs to
you, hidden or otherwise, for using our services.
You get the same products, prices and deals that
you would get by going directly to any of our
associated stores. And you get special deals
and discounts from us. In fact, shopping
with us will save you money.
What
if I am not satisfied with a purchase?.
We are
independent of our stores, and we cannot involve
ourselves in your transactions with them. Each
store is solely responsible for its own business
policies and practices. Please address any
complaints regarding purchases to the customer
satisfaction department of the appropriate store.
If your complaint is not resolved to your
satisfaction, please contact
us. We will consider your complaint in future
decisions about which stores to feature on our
site.
What
is the HEARTof.com Guide Window?
Our Guide Window helps you save money,
save time, and let's you know that you are
properly connected to HEARTof.com when you
shop. First, our Guide Window saves you
money because when you visit one of our stores,
the window alerts you to that store's current
coupons, time-limited deals, outlet or clearance
centers, or ongoing savings. Second, our
Guide Window saves you time because when you are
visiting one of our stores, the window provides a
variety of quick links back to wherever you want
to return on HEARTof.com. Third, our Guide
Window lets you know with confidence that the
HEARTof.com web site recognizes you as a logged-in
member whose purchases earn donations for your
chosen cause.
How
do I use the HEARTof.com Guide Window?
Because our Guide Window is a small pop-up
window, to use it, you must allow your browser to
accept pop-up windows. If you disable
pop-ups on your browser, you will not be able to
use our Guide Window; however, your purchases and
donations still will be tracked properly. If you
allow our Guide Window to work, whenever you click on
a link to one of our stores, our Guide Window will
load with useful information. Depending on
the circumstances at the moment, our Guide Window
will either pop to the front of the screen or sit
at the very bottom of your screen as a minimized
browser window. If the latter, simply click
on the minimized window and our Guide Window will
pop to the front of the screen. The easiest
and most efficient way to use our Guide Window is
to never close it while you are using HEARTof.com.
Simply minimize our Guide Window or click on a
larger window, and our Guide Window will minimize
itself.
How
do I uninstall the igive shopping window or the
greatergood forget-me-not program?
Begin at the lower left corner of your
screen. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel.
Double-click Add/Remove Programs. Then for
the igive window, click igive Shopping Window |
Remove | TopMoxie | Remove; or for the greatergood
program, click Forget Me Not | Remove.

Most definitely! We think you're
security and privacy are so important that we have
provided you with a separate statement on your
privacy.

I securely shop at your mall with my credit card?
We feature only reputable stores that employ
security measures to protect your credit card
information. Please be aware, however, that our
associated stores are separate organizations with
their own privacy policies and practices. If you

We may
link to a variety of web sites. If
you have concerns about your security on any of

associated with any cause. We do not endorse
any charitable or non-profit organization without
an express statement to that effect. Under
no circumstances do we ever ask or require such
organizations to endorse us in exchange for our
services or donations. Any lists of charitable or
non-profit organizations that we provide on our
site are provided solely for the information of
our visitors. We cannot guarantee the accuracy or
completeness of such lists, and no such list
should be understood as implying an endorsement in
either direction.
